As a key partner, VAST is thrilled to announce that Discover Digital’s hugely popular Innovation Grants scheme has reopened for applications. Charities, CIC’s, community groups, and social enterprises can now apply for up to £5,000 to support their work with those most affected by digital exclusion.

Digital exclusion is prevalent in so many communities across the city, and amid the cost-of-living crisis, the digital gap will only widen over the coming months. Now, more than ever, we need to be able to help those who are unable to get online to access the services they need and connect with friends and family.

Discover Digital, funded by the UK Community Renewal Fund, is a cross-sector partnership committed to raising the bar of digital accessibility across the city, helping others to discover the things they need to go digital and get online; to make sure that everyone can find and use the digital services they need.

The fund will be awarding equipment to community organisations supporting digitally excluded people who do not have access to IT equipment within the city. Projects should have fresh and innovative ideas to help address digital exclusion and enable people to easily access, and use, digital technology.

Administered by The Community Foundation for Staffordshire, Discover Digital’s Innovation Grants are available to city-based voluntary organisations with exciting initiatives to make the digital world more inclusive and easily accessible.

Innovation grants programme will help groups respond to localised and/or specific cohort needs, by offering digital equipment grants.

Grants will be offered to groups that apply before Monday 5th December to purchase new or replacement digital equipment for the benefit of the wider community, and all grants must be spent by 31st December 2022. An impact monitoring report including evidence of spend will be required following project completion.

So, bring your idea to life and help make the digital world more inclusive!
