Dudson Collection Re-opens to the Public

VAST have recently taken over management of the Dudson Museum and are delighted to welcome back Curator Alison Morgan and her team.

Housed in the iconic bottle kiln in the Dudson Centre’s courtyard, the Dudson collection has been cared for by Alison and the team for many years.

On 7th November, after several weeks of preparation, the museum officially opened its doors again with an opening celebration evening. The team were pleased to welcome many guests from the area who took the opportunity to see the museum’s collection and hear about the history of the Dudson Group.

The museum has since been included in Staffordshire County Council’s ‘Museum Development Update’ newsletter as ‘Museum of the Month’.

“We’re over the moon to be managing the Dudson Museum,” says Facilities Manager, Jackie Wheeler. “To be named as Museum of the month is an honour!”

“The Dudson Group and its collection is an important part of our local history, and to have it right here in the heart of the Dudson Centre is fantastic.”

“Plans to further develop the museum are being discussed and we look forward to being able to see those plans put into action.”

The museum is open to the public Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00am until 3:00pm, and regularly has crafts and activities for children, particularly during school holidays. Families, groups and school parties are always welcome.

Visitors can also take advantage of the Dudson Café where food and drinks (and amazing cakes) are available until 3:30pm.

Why not head down and see the breath-taking collection for yourself? With free entry and friendly staff, the museum is a must-see for any visitor to the Potteries!
